TSTT's software for the Alcatel Speedtouch USB does not work in T&T !!
You can use the latest software (2.01) for the Alcatel Speedtouch USB modem from:
http://www.speedtouch.com/support.htm.
All modem settings are in the phonebook.ini file. You cannot change the content of the file as it will result in a checksum error. You need the correct phonebook.ini file (I can provide the file). Important parameters for TSTT: VPI/VCI 0/35, PPPoA
Using the correct phonebook.ini file during the installation will install the necessary drivers, dialin utility etc. Do not try to use anything else the PPPoA
This is part of a working phonebook.ini file:
[Version]
FileVersion=1.4
[Driver]
DriverType=0 (this will install software as PPPoA and not PPPoE)
[Maximum simultaneous connections]
MaxSimConnections=1
[0001]
Name=PPPoA_0/35
VpiVci_VPI=0
VpiVci_VCI=35
...
Business 1 & 2:
-------------------
TSTT supplies a variety of routers (3COM, USR SureConnect 9003, Efficient Networks SPEEDSTREAM 5200 ...). If you go at least with a one year contract, you get the router for free (depending upon availability). I wouln't pay $2,400 since they are on the net for US$110. All or most of the routers provide USB and Ethernet ports to connect to your LAN. They have inbuild firewalls which can be managed via a web interface.
Make sure that you change the router password otherwise people might be able to log into the router from the net. If you do not enable remote support, disable ftp, telnet and http access from the net.
Setup:
PPPoA, VPI:0, VCI:35, LLC/SNAP, Authentication Protocol: PAP + your username/password
Note: Setup for Windows, Linux, Mac for the business package is the same as all settings can be done via a web browser.
Once you know the above ... there shouldn't be a need to pay the $552.00/$874.00 install fees. I guess the fees are for getting the correct software

Hope this helps!
