I activated GPRS on my cell phone about 2 weeks ago. My main use is to connect my iBook to the internet. Since installing it, there have been no problems and setup took only a few minutes to connect via Bluetooth. But lately, I have been experiencing a lot of disconnects while connected. Although the connection time is very fast, it becomes pretty annoying and then you end up losing your web sesison, so you have to start all over again especially if downloading stuff.

I just wanted to know whether or not anyone else is experiencing this problem. I hope this is resolved soon.

BTW, I can assist anyone if they need it set up on a Macintosh system.

Yes, I experience somehow similar disconnect problems, even the GSM signal is strong (and that is not too often) with my Powerbook G4 (w/ Bluetooth). Before the launch on July 22nd it was somehow working better, but since the launch mmmhh.

It is becoming very annoying now since I am only staying connected for a max of 10 minutes before being disconnected. And then the phone remains connected so I have to switch off the phone and put it on again to break the connection... there it goes again ... disconnected!

Do you have any idea when this problem will be resolved? If this is the type of service then it may be better for me to stay with my dial up account and walk around with a phone line and hope to get a phone box somewhere.

Do you know if the GPRS is running behind a firewall because there are some sites that I normally get on to using my dial up account which I am not getting on when using GPRS?

And if yes, is there a way to work around this?

And does the signal strength of the GSM have anything to do with the connection speed? Because even if my signal is right up, I still get a sort of slow connection.

Thank you.

I believe it's already available, but you'll need to replace your old simcard.

No, I just had to sign at TSTT and they switched it on. As far as I remember, there was no SIM card change involved.
