I cant start a topic so I am posting my question here. I am planning to bring a Motorola V500 quad band cell phone that is unlocked to use in Trinidad. I plan to have the phone activated in Trinidad with SIM there. I was wondering if any one might be able to tell me if this phone should not work on TSTT’s net work. The phone is Quad band and operates on 1800 Mega Hertz band.

Once your phone is Unlocked and runs on GSM 1800, you are fine.

This is what the TSTT site shows:

Quote

PURCHASING A GSM HANDSET ABROAD?

TSTT's mpower service operates at 1800MHz so ensure that the handset you purchase can operate at the 1800MHz frequency. Ensure also that the phone you purchase is not SIM locked to the foreign operator's network.

Hmmm I'm not so sure about TSTT dealers...they may have some thing with TSTT that states they can't unlock them, however I could be wrong.

But there are so many places that do unlocking now...

Thanks For the Reply(S) Just to let you all know The Phone was activated and works Fine...It was sold to me unlocked in the US....My only problem is that the provider tstt is really unreliable and it takes a real effort to actually make a call on the island..

I don't know if you guys with Nokias are aware there's a read receipt feature when sending text messages. It can send you back another message letting you know the person has read your message.

It's sorta flaky at times but it does work. However all the phones I've have before (3310, 1100) worked fine with sending the read receipt but I've gotten a 3200 and I've enabled it (you have to for it to work, it doesn't come enabled by default) but I don't get a read receipt. :(

I don't know what to do  any suggestions?
