data sim in a blackberry

i have my bf's old blackberry its a 8700g and its a cable and wireless one from barbados.... i dont really want to use the blackberry service just use my data sim in it but i cant seem to get it to work anyone can help? the phone part works but it wont connect to the internet.

blackberry phone will only work with the blackberry internet service you will not be able to use buzz or even use a data sim with it

do you have bis activated on it thats the only way you can get it to work
Do you get EDGE in capital letters?
Thats he only way to connect to the internet

You can also put the blackberry sim card in a regular EDGE phone and it works.
You can also use the blackberry as a modem for your PC.

I used the one with digicel used to get 120k average sometimes more. Pings was far to high doh.
Like 2 second pings and more.
