Internet users now have a choice of cheap bandwidth. Cable company Flow yesterday announced that it would offer a 20-hour 2 mbps package at $69.99.
That’s $9 cheaper than TSTT’s blink offering, which is $79, as both companies head to a price war.
The expansion in the broadband offering by Flow and TSTT will result in cheaper and more efficient service for consumers who have had to settle for dial-up or DSL service in the past few years.
Effective November, Flow’s prices are:
n A 20 hour limited package with speed at 2mbps for $69.99
n U click unlimited one package with speed up to 2 mbps for $189.99
n U click unlimited two package with speed up to 6 mbps for $349.99
n U click unlimited three package with speed up to 15 mbps for $689.99
“True broadband is an experience that is difficult to articulate and therefore over the next 60 days, we will offer consumers an opportunity to try one of Flow’s packages risk free with our new 30-day money back guarantee.
Consumers will also enjoy free installation and a free modem during this promotional period,” said John Reid, president of Flow.
The price schedule was announced to mark the completion of a $32 million undersea fibre optic cable which now connects T&T to
Curacao and to the rest of the ARCOS undersea network, which provides connectivity to the US and 18 other countries.
The 1000-km high capacity undersea fiber optic link is capable of transporting almost two terabits of data per second.
“In practical terms with this amount of capacity the entire population of Trinidad could simultaneously download and watch their favorite You Tube video clip, chat with friends and relatives around the world while one million business letters are being electronically transferred,” said Paul Scott, president of Columbus Networks.
Reid noted that economic growth which has taken place in developing countries has resulted from the use of broadband networks, in combination with the Internet to improve productivity, provide new products and services and support innovation in all sectors of the economy.

Well folks, it looks like Blink (too soon) just got blown out of the water. This is going to be exciting!!
Still getting 2mbps by me, but at least it's what I'm supposed to be. Not staying up 'till 3 to wait and see though .

Well Blink speeds would soon have to match up to Flow's new speeds. After signing up for 2MB for $350 and with Flow that money can get you 6MB. but i think most people with DSL wouldn't be able to get speeds that is comparable to Flow speeds because most people hardly live that close to a exchange. Well my DSL got upgraded to ADSL2+, but not my actual speed, its still 256K, and the attainable rate so far is 16MB/0.8MB, as i live close enough to the exchange (Diego Martin), so much so i could see their mobile masks from my house. You guys know when Digital Flow would come to Diego Martin?

My rates are same as yours as I live close enough to an Enchange too, We saw them running new cables in Diego for Digital Cable and whatnot...but so far nothing else has happened.
