Do you have any other peer-to-peer programs that you use? Do they give problems to log on as well?

Also have you been able to log on at all? These are the settings I am using for WinMX I don't know if they will help.

INTERNET CONNECTION

Connection Type: 128K ISDN

Outgoing TCP Connections: Don't use a proxy server (connect directly)

Incoming TCP Connections: Unable to accept incoming TCP connections

In/Out UDP Packets: Unable to send or receive UDP datagrams on any port.

Host Name Resolution: Use operating system to resolve host names. (Most users should use this option)

no winmx is the olny one i use. and i did what u said and still no luck.
i think i am about to give up. and downloading music is the only reason i went to high speed.

:( Hmmm well there is one other connection setting I remember I had used and I couldn't get on. When you start up WinMX there are two connection types displayed under the "Networks" tab:

Make a secondary connection to the network
This option is required for users connecting with a dial-up modem, ISDN line or other slow internet connections. Users that are on a LAN or firewalled and cannot open certain ports may also need to use this option.

and

Make a primary connection to the network
A primary connection is recommended for users with DSL, cable modem, T1, T3, or other types of high speed internet connections.

Surprisingly enough when I tried to use "Make a primary connection" it wouldn't connect at all. So I went back to using "Make a secondary connection" and it worked. Kinda weird/funny though however the downloads speeds are like 12- 16 kB/s from what I've seen.

I am trying to make a secondary connection, when i try to make a primary connection it tell me :
" No TCP port for incoming connection.
No UDP port for incoming and outgoing packets"

So you are trying to create a secondary connection and it's not connecting

Well I've given you all the settings I'm currently using so I don't know what to do anymore. :(

Dude, just try re-installing WINMX ! Wipe it off your machine, download the latest version and re-install. I use WinMX with the default settings and it works fine. Connects very quickly too ! No probs whatsoever ever since TSTT removed me from behind their firewall. Before that it never worked

I suspect that you're firewall is still up. You should call our friends at TSTT and ask them to look into it. Either that or you have another active firewall somewhere between you and the internet (on your pc, the router) that is blocking your access to the required ports for these applications.

It shouldn't, if it's a program that you're running for the first time with the firewall on, it would bring up a prompt asking you if you want to allow this program access to the internet (or something like that).

But if you say that you are getting problems with other peer-to-peer programs it's most likely TSTT that's messin you up! If it was just a problem with WinMX the other programs would work but it all of them!

Call TSTT and let them know the problem you are having and let them ensure that the firewall is turned off. MANY people say that's they've experienced times when they said it was turned off when it was still on.

Test your TSTT firewall ...

The Speedstream 5200 ADSL router has a diagnostic section. Simply run the diagnostics and see if any of the tests fail. Once the firewall is disabled, all tests should run just fine. Otherwise you would see errors in the 'Internet Connectivity' section.

+++ Diagnostics Output +++
Connections in the Home
Test Description Result
LAN Test the Ethernet/USB Connection PASS
ADSL Test ADSL synchronization PASS

Connections at the Carrier
Test Description Result
Eth to ATM Test Ethernet connection to ATM PASS
OAM Segment Test ATM OAM segment ping PASS
OAM end-to-end Test ATM OAM end-to-end ping PASS

Internet Service Provider
Test Description Result
PPPoE Test PPPoE Server connection N/A
PPPoE Session Test PPPoE session N/A
PPP Authentication Test authentication with ISP PASS
IP Address Test the assigned IP address PASS

Internet Connectivity
Test Description Result
Default Gateway Ping the default gateway PASS
DNS Ping the primary Domain Name Server PASS
DNS Query Test DNS Query PASS
Internet Ping a well known internet host PASS

Connection to Test: PPPoA(0) 0/35
+++ End Diagnostics Output +++

Well, and you could also use the firewall test http://scan.sygate.c...equickscan.html to test your PC from the outside.

If you cannot establish any telnet or ssh session to an host on the Internet, is usually a clear sign that the TSTT firewall is up.

Forgot to mention ... when you run the sygate test, and you like to check if the TSTT firewall is up, you need to switch of all your local firewalls ... the Speedstream and the Windows firewall in order to get the test up to your PC.
Otherwise the test will report that everything is blocked.
http, ftp, smtp, pop3 and imap ports are usually open, even with TSTT's firewall up.

Ran the sygate scan again with all firewalls off and it still came back as blocked. :(
