tweaking your speedstream 5200

Is anyone interested in tweaking their 5200?

Tweaking in this case may be defined as changing system level features, mac addresses and so on. If so i will post a guide i have written on how this can be accomplished.

Yeah I'm interested in tweaking mine to work with bot the ethernet and the usb ports, cause my sister can't get on at the same time with her laptop which only has a usb port :(

The average user won't see much benefits. Tweaking is more for power users and people who do not want to be locked out of their own dsl modems. There are however a few new features in the updated firmware. If you don't think it can benefit you, i don't advise you do it. ;)

Ok one question..... how do I uninstall this firmware update? I downloaded it and installed it, however I can't connect. :unsure:

you cannot uninstall it. You probably cannot connect because you didn't setup your VC and VPIs properly as stated in the guide. Make sure your interface under interface options is set to what i mentioned before.

Ok well dude I downloaded that ICGABE's ftp rooting program however whenever I try to run it.. it doesn't work and I get a runtime error!

what operating system did you try to run it on?

also did you get your dsl modem back online?
