Wow... 1/2 an hr to get to support.... That is not the issue. "What is wrong with the net? This afternoon they said it would be fixed by 8.' The answer, as supplied by probably the brightest bulb at TSTT, "Well, what they thought was wrong, was what was not wrong. So they now find what was wrong, so they working on it now." Imagine if u wrote this for an IS course answer!

Why is when I have my dial-up connection on for periods over say 15 hours the connection just goes totally dead?

All my webpages stop loading, MSN Messenger just loses its connection and most of my other web-dependent applications just stop working.

What is up with that?

It's called unlimited and yet when you try to stay connected for an "unlimited" amount of time they kill you connection.

I should also mention that this situation only happens when I'm "lucky". ("lucky" that I didn't get booted off and had to re-connect).

The service really sucks!!!!!!

More problems with TSTT's "unlimited" dial-up internet access.

Well I guess everyone hear read about the one hour (for me on dial-up it was more than an hour) downtime.

After all of that the service on dial-up has become worse than before.

My connection goes dead regularly now so I always have to be reconnecting to keep my connection alive.

This is just a real pain.

I'm surprised that my connection is still working properly after 8 hours.

We really need to get rid of this monopoly that is TSTT before we can get better service in Trinidad.

You should probably check your PC to see why your connection goes "dead" after some hours. You should vary the modem drivers and call tstt to check the phone line to see why the connection drops. My dialup stays up for a week sometimes.

Well this never used to happen before.

I used to have my dial-up on for weeks sometimes without it ever going dead but only in the past few months it has started happening regularly.

I think I will call TSTT the next time it happens and ask them to check it out.

On another note now.

.......

On Monday my website was not accessible through TSTT.

It's at dot tk (www.trini.tk) but it's paid for.

I have 2 other domains pointing to the same nameservers and they were working fine but they were dot com's.

People from other countries were able to access my site using www.trini.tk but TSTT users were unable to.

I myself have the OnSpeed service which is based in the UK and I was able to access my site at www.trini.tk

What's up with that?

We are in serious need of some competition.

you shouldn't take that literally :)
tstt doesn't want you to be on 24/7 because their infrastructure can only support a fairly limited amount of simultaneous connections. If you have too many ppl using the dialup connection for long periods, you'll run into trouble.

So it's possible that they are now terminating sessions after - say 15h.

holy crap.. not bad

I observed the same behaviour as the poster above - when I
was still on dial-up. after a couple hours (I'd say 12 or more),
the connection would normally flatline.

I didn't really look into it, as the lines are bad down here -
so maybe it's a problem with the lines.

btw... they still don't want you to use the service 24/7 :)
