You are using a standard 3 foot USB extension cable?

Do you see a difference in the 'antenna level' (number of bars) or did that remain the same while download rate increased?

A question:

I've tried the CCU-550 USB modem in three different computers and on connection the systray icon always reports a speed of 230.4 Kbps.
Is this normal?
Does this mean the connection is capped to just below DSL speed?

not nessary you know when i used my destop modem once Via the USB port it connected @ 115kbs but it uses compression to transport more packets accross the usb link faster and more eficiently ....click on the connection icon and verify if your connection uses compression ...which i am sure it does ...

In the earlies my wireless broadband modem use to work much faster than dsl ....just lately it frickin up

All of a sudden I'm getting an antenna level of 0 with the LED stuck on red.
Tried again a half hour later, got a green light and level of 6. Did a bandwidth test and it was 284 kbps. After about ten minutes of browsing, nothing was working. The level was back to zero.
I'm using a dialup account to type this....
