Posted 6 Jan 2008
This is me now getting blink for the very first time. When I now got it I couldnt access hotmail, myspace and some other related sites. After a long investigation and great help from someone on this board I realised that I had to enable the MTU settings on my wireless router to 1492 ( I had this problem even without the router) on the other side tstt couldnt figure it out, so Im guessing this is their reply on to 'fix' my problem
oh well -

What area are you from and do you know if your area is PPPoE. Do you know how to check if your router is set to PPPoE? If it is set to PPPoE then I may be able to help you with the messenger etc problem...you would have to set your MTU to 1492.
thanx blink
changed the mtu to 1492 and magically....it worked...how'd you figure that one out ??

Callled in TSTT today again to see if they resolved the problem with my limited internet connection but it seems like its the same old story. Went through the steps with a technician again..even went as far as to add an ip to the DMZ host and create a virtual adress in the NAT field. I duuno it just doesnt add up. Im able to get onto myspace.com,windows.com only if I use a proxy page like cloakus.com.

I live in the Petit Valley area. I checked the routers page and it looks like its set to PPoA. Should I switch to PPoE and how do you go about setting the MTU ? -

just got a paradyne yesterday, don't see the NAPT function just the NAT try unchecking it and see if that works. Go into Advance Setup>WAN>Edit, click next a couple time till you see Network Address Translation Settings uncheck NAT reboot and see if that helped
Tried it out and it didnt seem to work...so i called TSTT again..they told me that its apparently to them that many customers within the Deigo Martin/Petit Valley area are experiencing the same problem...some with no access atall..told me that by friday it should be resolved...lets wait and see
thanx
