Topics I've Started

  1. Bittorrent

    Posted 10 Mar 2008

I've noticed that whenever i start bittorrent and set a torrent to start downloading my modem disconnects and then a few seconds later reconnects.
At first I thought I was imagining things but it always happens. It never used to happen before I got 'Blinked'.

Now I'm wondering, is this somehow involved with the method TSTT uses to throttle or detect p2p traffic? My torrents still work fine (I get speeds up to the package speed limits) but is this their first attempt at traffic shaping or something?
Seems a strange way to do things. (Isn't the aim normally to do it without alerting the consumer?)

Also it doesn't seem to happen if i use limewire. And it only happens when i start the first torrent, after that no disconnects unless i shut the program down and restart it.

What do you guys think this is?
Is tstt disconnecting me from the regular users bandwidth and connecting me to the p2p users bandwidth?( or some other crazy thing like that?)
