  1. Port forwarding: Why does it not work forme anymore?

    Posted 26 Feb 2008

Here's my problem. I used portforward.com to find out how to do port forwarding on the new zhone modem. I did it as instructed to, but in uTorrent, the test page still says the port is closed. Now, I am on a shared connection in the house, with a wireless router being the hub. It's a Linksys wrt54g. I know how to enable and set up a port forward on it, still, I get the error message. I thought the problem was that the linksys router at first, not having that port forwarded, but the adsl modem having it forwarded.

I tried many combinations so far, and am at the end of my rope. Does anyone know what's going on? Ifit's a computer problem or a hardware problem? I have WMI and Windows Firewall services on and running, as I saw that having the firewall service disabled on XP can cause you to not be able to forward ports. I am also getting torrent speeds similar to when I had 256k dsl last year. When I lower the upload limit, my download speed decreases even more, and I was thinking it was caused by the ports not being forwarded.
  2. Local CSR again?

    Posted 17 Feb 2008

Well, I recently go the new Zhone ADSL modem from TSTT, but I didn't get the CD with it, Hmm.... Anyway, I called TSTT that night to be answered by a local. I got help setting up the modem and everything, so I good. I hope it wasn't a once in a while thing and that it's permanent, but anyobd else get to speak with a local CSR when you call helpdesk or are you still being transferred to India?
