    CARIBLINK PREDICTION COMES TRUE

Unfortunately, as I predicted, I am back to MODEM speeds (10K and under) and carib-link says it will take SIX WEEKS to rectify that problem ,and get me back to an 'expected' norm of 100K plus.

Bottom line, CARIBLINK STILL SUCKS. I honestly say AVOID THEM, if you looking for quality , reliable high-speed service. If you on DIAL UP and payin $345, and you CYAH GET BLINK in your area, then, and only then it might make some sense, seein that unlimited is like $240.

Been monitoring it with NETMETER and also tstt bandwidth test, in addition to speedtest. These results are fairly accurate.

Takes me like ONE HOUR PLUS to download a mere 50 MB file. Same file took me like 15 -20 minutes about 2 days ago.

They come back with they $h#@ AGAIN. See results below. THAT IS MODEM SPEEDS DREAD.

AVOID CARIBLINK LIKE THE PLAGUE. Maybe if yuh livin in some posh area in north, things mite be different. But here is the reality at least in some parts of south (where i live).

    YET ANOTHER SPEEDTEST for CARIBLINK

As per previous posts, here is another speedtest for my 1.5mbps conn. Speeds slower, but still ok.

Seems that whatever 'upgrades' they did (after almost 3 WEEKS of MODEM CATEGORY SPEEDS), has paid off. I hope it lasts.

    CARIBLINK UPDATE:

I ONCE AGAIN, suffered from an un-announced service interruption. The 1.5mbps wireless broadband was down for most of today (feb 24). Just came back a few hours ago.

I did another speedtest, and to make a long story short, there is great ,(dare i say MIRACULOUS ) improvement !

It brought me almost to TEARS to be able to download in excess of 100 KILOBYTES a second !!! See the results yourself.

My only concern, is that given their track record, it will NOT last. As you may remember from my first ever post, I DID get similar speeds INITIALLY, but they soon 'tapered off' after a few days, and remained under 15K for most of the month. I only got the service 'officially' from feb 1st.

I hope they get it right this time, and i hope it lasts !!!

Still not sure why the ISP shows up as TSTT, instead of carib-link though. Maybe they 'linkin' to TSTT somewhere along the way ???

Will continue to monitor and post more speedtest results as the days go by.

I see that some members think I am 'making up' the carib-link speed tests .....

The ADMIN can confirm that I am with cariblink by the way, and the speedtest results i posted, can't be rigged since the results are on their servers. Even carib-link support staff will admit to speed problems.

I have no doubt that SOME people in SOME areas , DO GET their 1.5mbps from carib-link .....but beware that this does not apply in all areas.

Beware of members who claim others are liars, and who also adopt a know-it-all attitude...... in reality, they may know little or nothing.

Incidentally, one member seems to be pushing FLOW all the time.....wonder why ????

Actually you are wrong, 56MB with TSTT dialup takes like 5 to 9 hours depending on peakhours and weekends etc.
Minimum tine is 5 hours and maximum time could range over 9 hours.

And I bet you downloaded that 56MB during peak hours so we looking at 1 hour with carib link and 9 hours with TSTT dialup.

But with a 1.5MB you should ah downloaded that in atleast 10 minutes. So carib link still sucking, but atleast it improving now, thats about 150k.

come on Cariblink please get your act together we need competition fast.

    -====

From EIGHT YEARS of experience with dial-up (even from different locations and diff ISP's) ....I averaged about 18MB per hour.....so I repeat , about 3 hours.

I'm am not in the habit of making wild statements.

Maybe you had a bad connection in your area ??.
