  1. Modem acting weird

    Guys a few days ago the LAN light on my paradyne modem started blinking non-stop. Rebooting the router or my PC doesn't stop it. Also for some reason my net performance is affected. In online games I lag now, even though my ping is fine. It's like someone is unplugging and replugging the network cable really fast.

    Today I disabled the ethernet and plugged in the USB connection. Same thing - now the USB light is blinking non-stop.

    I just want to know what the hell is going on. Even did virus scans and ting.

    Well I put together a new system but the problem is that my 'local area connection' wants to use the NIC card. In my last system there was no NIC card so I used the usb connection.

    Well no biggie so far.

    Except that in the 'internet protocol' properties I see that 'Obtain an Ip address automatically' and 'Obtain DNS server address automatically' is checked.

    I only noticed this when I tried to do some port forwarding and the ports weren't, err, forwarding lol.

    So I want to enter a specific IP address and DNS so here's the thing...I'm a noob and I need to know what values to enter for:

    1)Subnet mask
    2)Default gateway
    3)Preferred DNS
    4)Alternate DNS

    Hope someone can help! I would've check the values my last system used but it's not working well..
