  1. Zhone router blocking ports?

    Posted 30 Jul 2009

G'day all. Apparently I'm having some serious problems accessing certain sites such as chat.deviantart.com and chat.ustream.com. I am at my wits' ends. For a year I've had this problem and not being able to access the chatrooms has caused me to miss my weekly meetings for an entire year. Begging and pleading with Blink personnel on several occasions has gotten me nothing but an abrupt "We're not trained in that area, sorry" and a hangup. What is the use of untrained technicians? A waste I tell you.

I don't know what to do, I'm pulling my hair out. A few networking experts from the UK and the US have taken control of my computer, but because of the weird router blink gave me (a zhone brand) they could not help me because of the confusing and over-demanding configuration and layout of the router page. I don't know what to do and in researching help I found this page.

If anyone, please please please has an inkling of an idea in how to successfully unblock port 3900 from my router, I'd greatly appreciate it. They've tried everything. I've tried several machines from my home connection, none of the machines was able to connect to these sites. They just appear to be loading and then eventually drop the connection.

For note: I can successfully ping both sites, and with the same machines being connected to other networks (whether it be school or another person's house), they connect to the sites flawlessly and instantly. So I know for sure the problem is not with my firewall configuration or any software on my computer, because it works when I connect anywhere but at home. The problem is with my router, and blink's 'technician team' is an utter rubbish of an excuse for their support services. A complete waste of my time; they know nothing.

Thank you in advance! I eagerly await any kind of assistance.
