OK folks i just got a ZHONE 6218-I2-xxx from blink to test for a month, setup was straightforward and it came with the latest firmware. The only thing I notice so far is that it doesn't work well with PPPoA whereas my normal 6211-I2 works flawlessly on both modes same exchange. I have the wireless turned on with WPA-PSK security and signal strength it good.
I'm just waiting to see how long the wifi radio will last.. i've had several brands of wifi routers in the past that died after a few weeks..except for my faithful linksys :)

Well I'm using one. Works great and I'm on PPPoA, my modem info is

    ZHONE Firmware: 03.00.44
    Product Name: 6218-I2-xxx
    Serial Number:
    Hardware Version: REV.1.11
    Board ID: WLAN
    Software Version: 3-06-06-3U00.A2pB022g2.d19b
    Bootloader (CFE) Version: 1.0.37-6.5
    Wireless Driver Version: 3.131.35.4.cpe2.0
    MAC Address:

I also have a couple el cheapo linksys wireless routers, a model 1310 and a di-524. Both work great with the Paradyne I1/I2/I3. As a matter of fact the particular DSL modem should not matter once they are standards compliant. And I did the easy config, just told the wireless router to pull a WAN address automatically from the DSL router and that was it. No need to change IP Address schemes.

By the way, these cost me about 10US each on ebay, used of course.

If I may say ... this is not entirely correct. Both devices (Linksys & Paradyne) have inbuild DHCP servers and both issue IP addresses in the same range (subnet) of 192.168.1.x.
Connecting the Paradyne to the WAN port of the Linksys, the Paradyne will issue the first IP address at 192.168.1.2. Since the LAN interface of the Linksys is also using the 192.168.1.1 address and the DHCP server issues addresses from 192.168.1.100 - 192.168.1.254, there would be a conflict.

Another option is to connect the Paradyne router to one of the LAN ports of the Linksys router, change Linksys LAN address to something different than 192.168.1.1, disable the Linksys DHCP server and only use DHCP from the Paradyne (not my preferred solution as the Paradyne doesn't seem to be reliable (especially as a DNS server)).

I think I see where you're coming from. But this is how mine's and several friends' are working right now. Another option is to configure the linksys as a bridge rather than a router.

I was able to get things to work after I changed the IP. thanks

There actually may be an easier way to do this. Most of these wireless routers have a dhcp option under the wan settings. What this means is they will pull an address from a dhcp device such as the dsl router. Once you enable that setting you have nothing else to worry about. It's all automatic after that.

My St Augustine connection has been unstable for nearly 2 months!
Them ##### make me come in and exchange my modem and it still not working.
They even say they'll reduce my bill if they can't fix it.. I was like burr! $700 a month for 10mb and they can't have it working good?

Give us some details. Line stats, SNR, sync rate. What do you mean by "unstable"? Describe in detail.

Tell us about your house, how many extensions, how many without filters?

Any dusk to dawn light within a few feet of the modem, alarm system, etc?
