Well Since Digicell has publish their "Leopard" Advertisement in the local Newspaper


TSTT has stopped Inter-Connectivity talks

As I'm sure you have seen from the newspaper, television, and mail out
advertisements, TSTT has introduced a new telephone rate package called
SmartChoice.

You should consider carefully before signing up for this program. There
are some unexplained mathematics that make SmartChoice a BadChoice for
you, for your ISP, and for telecommunications services in the country.

I'll be short and to the point and give you some concrete examples of
why this is a BadChoice

1. If you sign up for SmartChoice you will be billed 20cents/minute that
you are on line to the Internet. This fee is in addition to your monthly
SmartChoice fee.

2. You will continue to pay 92 cents/minute to phone someone on their
cellphone from your home phone.

3. You will pay 20 cents /minute for every call you make once you have
used the monthly block of allowed time.

The current telephone rate system is as follows:

1. You pay 23 cents per call to connect to The Internet as long as the
ISP is in your calling area.

2. You pay $1.15/minute to phone a cellphone

3. You pay a range of per minute rates for your phone calls.

4. You pay 23 cents per call to call anyone in your area code.

The bottom line is this:

1. Your Internet service will cost you more money
2. Your calls to cellphones will be just as expensive as they are now
3. Your local calls will cost you more money

Do not be taken in by the slick ads and pretty words. This is a
BadChoice. Let's look at practical examples for your home phone.

1. Calling your next door neighbour to find out how she is doing after
the operation. Current cost is 23 cents / call and you can talk for as
long as you like - under SmartChoice you will pay 23 cents / minute. For
a 10 minute phone call that's $2.30

2. Ordering your favourite fast food delivery. Right now you pay 23
cents to make the call and place the order. You know how long it takes
for them to find your number in the computer, confirm the directions,
get the order, change it because your son doesn't eat pineapple. So
that's 10 minutes on the phone. New cost $2.30

3. Your doctor or dentist probably phones you to confirm that you will
make your appointment. That usually takes one or two minutes. That costs
him 23 cents. His new cost is 46 cents. So his phone bill will double.
So your medical bills go up

How do you make a SmartChoice?

1. Call the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad & Tobago at 674
8288 and complain about this rate change.

2. Sign up for TSTT e-billing at https://econtact.tstt.co. tt/ and check
your local call usage carefully. If most of your calls are in your
calling area then this is a BadChoice. Remember that calls to cellphones
are not included.

3. Forward this email to everyone you know who has email and a TSTT
phone. Print it and give a copy to those who don't have email.
