Well there are ways of getting more reasonable access rates from digicel    . But that's actually quite good news if they're unlocked. Might make it worth it to purchase one. Any idea how TSTT's $800 price compares to the price if you ordered one off the net?

Hey, if you dont mind sharing, what are the ways?

Folks, I have a question. Are these EDGE cards sim locked? Would it be possible to use a Digicel SIM in them? Because digicel definitely has EDGE enabled on their network. Just wondering if this would make the cards worth purchasing.

Yes they are unlocked , I have tried my digicel SIM and it works at TRUE EDGE speeds ( got 215Kbps on average) however I did not have the Digicel DATA SIM (the flat rate plan one ) so the cost of internet surfing is large and non profitable............as usual its reserve for co-operate customers!!!

I know the monthly cost is $150.
Not sure about the contract though.

I purchased the EDGE card from tstt/bmobile library corner about a week now and like few people I asked many questions to the CSR about this offer

With the offer you get a postpaid GPRS SIM already activated, the monthly cost is the same $150.00 like the previous so called prepaid SIM's you can deactivate and reactivate any amount of time you wish there is no stipulated contract

Now, even though they are selling you a EDGE compatiable card the service provided by TSTT is STILL GPRS since the card is solely a EDGE card it will surely display the EDGE icon in the wireless manager,

I asked the CSR twice just to make sure and it was confirmed TSTT has never activated their EDGE service, an upgrade to the exixting GPRS and they don't intend to as the obvious answer would entails usage of valuable bandwidth which they apparently have not catered for!!!!

I live in San Fernando proper and a quick bandwidth test say a lot, I have used TSTT own and the speed net and just as I thought its nothing more than mere GPRS speed, I get 15-22Kbps in off peak and like 8Kbps in peak and and sometime absolutly NO data transfer at all

I would recomend that this service be used for e-mail and light Internet browsing , nothing has changed from the previous service, TSTT just apparently ran a offer to get rid of excess PCMCIA cards that were not selling

thanks for ur reply... how is the performance of ur system since u installed it? any noticable sluggishness?

Norton 360 does not slow down the system performance as compared to McAfee's AV (McAfee) overscans and from my experience I has only installed it once and removed it eventually, due to really slowing the system down, I found that Avast is similar in nature too, it scans every thing, even though it might be a good thing for the Web it makes browsing tedious, so I would stay away from Avast pro for now, Pc cillin Internet 2007 work well and I found that it did not significantly slow the system down. I have found that Pc Cillin and Norton 360 work best for me and the reason that I went for the Norton 360 was available feature of Phishing Protection and Web Site Authentication that was unique to Norton 360

    Hey,
just wanted to know what Security Suite those of u running Vista use? having a hard time choosing which to use (Norton 360/Trend-Micro Internet Suite/Avast, etc)......

    any help appreciated...

I have found that Norton 360 works well, though all the AV you have listed are very popular and they all work now with Vista, however, personally I chose Norton 360 beacuse it covers pc security, transaction security(the only AV that has this so far, useful for Online shopping), Backup and restore, and pc tuneup basically it covers all the essentials that a common pc user would need.
