SIM deactivation

If I remember correctly if you don't use a SIM for a while it is deactivated & the number put out for others to acquire. How long the SIM has to be out of use for that to happen?

i never knew they did that. I thought they have to leave the number whether or not the phone is used. I mean u do get a sim licence. But i could be wrong

I lost one of my prepaid bmobile numbers when I forgot to top up the account after nearly two years or so.

i found a sim card in the dirt a long while ago and was using it (yes it worked) and just decided to stop using it.and just the other day (about a year since i last used it) i put it in a phone and got a sim registration failed error message.so i guess its about a year or probably less
