Bmobile launched their pre-paid data plan yesterday at a rate of $4/MB. I've requested the service on 2 SIMs so far (my backup prepaid SIM) and a friend's SIM, and both have been unable to access the network, returning either "Invalid Server" or "No Gateway Reply" errors after trying to load google.com.

The only difference with settings is that the APN has to be set to "bconnected" instead of "Internet" as it is when using the post-paid unlimited data plan...

Has anyone signed up for this and been able to actually use it?

I've called customer service to try to troubleshoot, but all they can suggest is to visit a front office if the service isn't working with the setting they provided...

at 4$/MB is that really a deal for you/ especially since it's edge. Might as well just buy a post paid plan you'll save alot more.

It's just to use whatsapp on a prepaid backup SIM I have.. my main SIM is postpaid with the unlimited plan

Whatsapp data usage is really low, I've had it running for 2 months and the data usage for the app is 7 MB total... sounds like a deal to me..

I'll look at a postpaid data plan knowing that I'll surely have overages on that prepaid plan...

Service is online now as of this evening.

You can't really have overage per se, as you're being billed per MB. But as I said, this is not what I use on my main phone. I have the unlimited plan.

In any case, I'm mostly within WiFi range maybe 75% of the day, EDGE (slow!) is really only for on the go WhatsApp, email and the odd google query. My data usage isn't very high.

Firstly you have to call them and let them activate the service on your account.

Then all you have to do is create a GPRS access point and leave everything as default/blank and just put the APN as bconnected

I don't know what type of phone you have, but on Nokia phones you also have to change the access point in the packet data menu to the same as the APN, bconnected in this case...

Should work then...

So just to clarify-

APN "internet": post paid unlimited data users

APN "bconnected": pre-paid data users

The reason i ask, is because I see TSTT has a new free pre-paid data promotion:
http://bmobile.co.tt...s/prepaid-data/

So i tried using the APN "bconnected" with my post-paid SIM, and I have NO data access. I was testing it out to see if the new "bconnected" APN was any different/faster than the years-old "internet" APN.

Anyone observe any differences???

There isn't any difference, they both access the sameeee SLOW EDGE network...

"internet" for post-paid phones
"bconnected" for pre-paid phones

LOL It wont load Google or facebook... but that's on a blu phone, i guess a more popular brand would be better for testing.
