In Topic: GSM vs. TDMA
Posted 18 Jul 2005
Thanks for the info on GSM, but my question was a sarcastic one
I know GSM is technically superior because of the voice and data capabilities (global implementations). I was referring to TSTT's implementation of the GSM system
Also, they haven't worked out all the kinks to provide proper service of the GSM network, but they were willing to stop the TDMA system, thereby forcing all existing TDMA customers (if they NEED a cell) to change to their problematic GSM network thereby increasing the congestion on that network which would only worsen the problem.
With what happened last week with GSM being down, I have heard that TSTT has decided to keep the TDMA system active indefinitely, for now.
That is one of the better moves they have made. If they had discontinued TDMA, i would have lived without a cell, til DIGICEL and Laqtel are operational.
But, why did the government not approve TSTT using the 850 frequency if it is more suitable to our geographical landscape???

In Topic: sms gateway is down again

This is the longest the internet gateway has ever been offline, well besides when they shut it off last year. What could be causing this problem for so long? And even now the ph text msging is delayed.
why can't they issue a statement to say what going on!? It really is frustrating with tstt and their lack of customer service. -

I'm still getting problems with SMS, both from the web and from my phone. If I try to send a text from my ph, I'm getting a System Not Found error. I'm not recieving msgs from the net either.
Well, given that I am still with a TDMA ph
I do not think that should be a problem. Any ideas as to what going on??

This weekend was strange
I was getting speeds of about 32KB/s. I really hope that was not a glitch or something. I had an approx 20MB Norton update which downloaded in just under 10 mins
