Now what? For the last few days, the TSTT mail server is apparently just discarding all my messages. It seems to connect and go through, but nobody receives anything I send; not even me if I cc: myself on the message. TSTT what's up with that? -

Hey, it works again. I did not change anything at my end. I just sent a business e-mail - while forgetting that it was no longer working - and it worked. Tried the telnet command afterwards, and it happily connects to the Yahoo SMTP server again.
Very weird, but I am grateful. -

I agree, I don't like webmail myself. For Gmail the configuration is here:
Configuring Gmail clients
I suppose you can find similar information for AOL.
Incidentally, I am now able to use Gmail through the SMTP server of TSTT. It may be because I registered my other e-mail accounts as allowed names under my TSTT account, although this is just a guess. -

I have no problems accessing Yahoo's port 587 via Blink:
Using e.g. Windows Command Prompt (or Unix shell):
Cool try, but no cigar. I get following results.
telnet smtp.bizmail.yahoo.com 587
Connecting To smtp.bizmail.yahoo.com...Could not open connection to the host on port 587: Connect failed
I suppose that is exactly my problem. I still have the mystery why I can access it from my office account, but not anymore from home?
